Old postcards were used like we use text messaging today – for short, sometimes emotional, sometimes playful notes. Clearly there was an expectation of speedy delivery of these ephemeral thoughts. On Christmas Eve and the cusp of the new year, I send you this Postmark – if you read the text of the overlaid card it says: “Cheer Ho old Thing! It’s a pretty jolly old world after all – Just Freddy!” Have a great holiday – Kevin.
